Basic Definitions
Blinkie: coupons pulled from machines in the supermarket aisle
BOGO: Buy One Get One
Catalina: coupon which prints out after you make a purchase (Register Rewards at Walgreens)
Doubler (Twice the Value): coupon which originates from a particular store and, when paired with a manufacturer coupon, doubles the manufacturer coupon’s redemption value
GM – General Mills coupons insert from the Sunday newspaper.
HERE – click on the word HERE. This is a link for a printable coupon.
Manufacturer Coupon: coupon which originates from the item’s manufacturer, usually coming in the Sunday paper
OOP: Out of Pocket.
OYNSO: On Your Next Shopping Order (usually seen with Catalinas and referring to a money amount you can save on your next transaction)
P&G - Proctor and Gamble coupon insert (comes in the Sunday newspaper).
Peelie: coupon pulled from item’s packaging
Printable Coupon: coupon which originates online and is printed out by the consumer
RP - Red Plum coupon insert (comes in the Sunday newspaper).
RR: Register Reward at Walgreens (see Catalina).
SCR: Single Check Rebate from Rite-Aid. Must submit online or by mail to receive.
SS – Smart Source coupon insert (comes in the Sunday newspaper).
+UP Rewards: the new catalina at Rite-Aid. (See What is a Catalina for more information)
WYB: When You Buy (usually precedes the number of items you must purchase or amount of money you must spend to be eligible for a discount)

What does the coupon source of SS mean?
SS means Smart Source. It’s one of the inserts that come in the Sunday paper.
What does “per purchase” mean on a coupon? Does it mean per shopping trip/purchase(s) being made at the time OR does it mean per item being purchased from a given mfg.? When you have a coupon that says $1.00/4 can I use 4 of the same coupon IF I’m buying 4 of the required item(s) OR do I only get to use one coupon for buying 4 items. I’ve read conflicting info on this matter. If it means that “purchase” means item purchased and not shopping trip how do I prove/explain this to the hateful cashier/store manager? I’ve tried to find the definition of “purchase” everywhere on mfg’s. web sites and can’t locate it . Help!
To the best of my understanding, and the opinions of the managers and store’s I shop at, per purchase means per item. Some coupons do limit how many coupons you can use “per transaction”. This is different than purchases. And, if a coupons says $1/4, it means one dollar off of 4 items, and you can only use 1 coupon per each 4 items.
